Penni Cyrus Out for Remainder of WMA Season

I am writing this letter to regretfully inform my fans, friends, sponsors and race organizations that I will be out of competition for 8-10 weeks. While practicing for the WMA Washougal race, a crazy but not so uncommon accident left me with a fracture to the radius on my right arm (at the wrist joint) and a fracture on the elbow of my left arm. Both my arms will have very limited movement for the next few weeks.

The Thursday after my 7th place finish at the WMA race in Lakewood, I was practicing at a local track in Arizona. I was feeling good about the speed I had found over the past month and practice was flowing nicely. The accident happened when a rider went down after a high speed table top and his bike landed sideways on the landing. While I was following my brother George, I took the inside line and landed on the downed rider’s bike launching me into the face of the next jump. There were no flaggers or anything so I had no idea a rider had just gone down and that his bike was on the landing of the jump.

I will be out for the Washougal WMA race, the Washington WORCS race and most likely any of the races on or before Labor Day weekend. We will not rush the healing process but I hope to be back for several races before the end of the year.

I would like to thank my sponsors for the support they have provided me this year:  MSR, Bell, FMF, Maxxis, Pro Wheel, RTT stabilizers, ASV, EVS, Carter Powersports, G4 graphics, Acerbis, Hinson, IMS, Scott, SDG seats, Twin Air, Factory Connection, Wiseco, Sidi, Renthal, Regina chains and Crank Works.
