Ashley Fiolek Takes
First Moto
in AMA/WMA Women’s National Motocross from Wortham
WORTHAM,
Texas (June 7, 2008) – American Honda/Red Bull/Alpinestars’
Ashley Fiolek took the opening moto win in the AMA/WMA Women’s
National Motocross Championship Presented by Kawasaki at the
Monster Energy Freestone Motocross National Presented by Yamaha,
Kicker Audio, and Berkey’s Plumbing.
Last week’s winner, Fiolek blasted out of the gates and grabbed
the Meterman Holeshot Award with American Honda/Honda of
Houston/Fox Racing/Bad Boy Energy Drink’s Jessica Patterson in
tow. A great head-to-head battle ensued with Fiolek edging out
Patterson by half a bike length for her second moto victory of
the season. Suzuki/Shift’s Sarah Whitmore rode a solid race to
bring home third.
“I can’t believe I led wire-to-wire, this is great,” said Fiolek.
“Jessica (Patterson) was riding really well and it made me have
to work that much harder to stay in front.”
The final moto of AMA/WMA Women’s National Motocross kicks off
Sunday’s action at 10:40 a.m., just prior to the opening
ceremonies of the AMA Toyota Motocross Championship Presented by
FMF, which kicks off at 12:30 p.m.
