Help Raise Funds to Fight Breast Cancer Bend, OR – August 26, 2008 — The Women’s Motocross Association will be holding a live auction fundraiser at the final round of the Toyota AMA Motocross Championship on Saturday August 30th to raise money for Shasta Johnson’s Breast Cancer 3-Day walk team. Come on out and join Bevo Forti, Rocket Rob Buydos and the WMA racers . Participants will have the opportunity to bid on motocross memorabilia including jerseys from Ashley Fiolek, Sarah Whitmore, Tarah Geiger, and Ryan Villipoto, Ben Townley’s MXoN goggles, gift certificates, and a KLX110 Limited Edition Breast Cancer Awareness pit bike. Team Shasta will be joining thousands of other dedicated women and men for the Breast Cancer 3-Day, a three day, 60-mile walk benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure and National Philanthropic Trust. In order to participate, each walker must train for the event and commit to raising a minimum of $2,200. “I decided to participate in the Breast Cancer 3-Day because I survived breast cancer and I wanted to do something bold to help fight the disease — and what better way than to set a goal to accomplish something challenging and rewarding,” said Shasta Johnson. “I look forward to marching through the streets with thousands of others as we raise awareness and funds for the breast cancer movement.” The Auction will be held at Steel City Raceway, Saturday, August 30, 2008 following the Final Motocross class Moto at the Podium. In addition to attending this auction fundraiser, you can also help Team Shasta reach their goal by making a donation online donation page www.teamshasta.org. Taking place in 14 cities nationwide, the Breast Cancer 3-Day is a three-day, 60-mile walk that provides an opportunity to educate tens of thousands of people about breast health, including the importance of early detection. Breast Cancer 3-Day participants commit to raising a minimum of $2,200 and walking an average of 20 miles a day during each three-day event. Proceeds from the Breast Cancer 3-Day are used for breast cancer research, education, and community outreach programs. As the primary beneficiary of the Breast Cancer 3-Day, Susan G. Komen for the Cure receives 85 percent of net proceeds and the remaining 15 percent goes to the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.
