WASHOUGAL, Wash. (July 27, 2008) – Defending series champion, American Honda/Honda of Houston/Fox Racing/Bad Boy Energy Drink’s Jessica Patterson, took her first win of the 2008 season in round four of the six-race AMA/WMA Women’s National Motocross Championship Presented by Kawasaki. After finishing second in the weekend’s first moto, Patterson capitalized on a great start in moto two to take the moto win and overall victory.
American Honda/Red Bull/Alpinestars rider and series points leader Ashley Fiolek came up short in her bid for a fourth straight overall win, but finished second overall after taking the victory of moto one and the runner-up spot behind Patterson in moto two.
Yamaha, Jayco, Etnies, FMF, Answer Racing’s Tarah Gieger continued her season turnaround, rounding out the overall podium. She opened the weekend with a fifth-place run in the first moto and put in a determined ride during moto two to finish third.
“I’m glad to finally get up here,” said Patterson. “It’s been a tough season so far but my team found something that we’ve been missing all season during the break. I think it’s exactly what we needed to turn things around.”
